Breast Friends, Inc.
In 1996 Lyn Wasserman faced breast cancer for the second time. She did not face
it alone. Throughout her treatment and recovery, Lyn was fortunate to have two
breast cancer survivors available for one-on-one support twenty-four hours a
day, seven days a week, and this good fortune was not lost on her. After her
recovery, she felt compelled to give something back. |

Casting for
Recovery
Breast cancer and fly-fishing? It may sound like a classic case of
strange bedfellows, but it actually makes a lot of sense.
The casting techniques
associated with the sport are a
great way to recover range of
motion after surgery. The
zen-like stillness, the play of
sunlight on the water, and the
paradox of relaxation and
concentration all serve to take
the mind away from stress. When
you toss in the benefit of
spending time with over a dozen
other women who are in the same
boat, so to speak, it all adds
up to a great idea – an idea
that makes a difference in the
lives of hundreds of women each
year. |
